review: the day boot from everlane
Frank + Oak shirt & coat / Isabella Oliver ‘Zadie’ maternity jeans / Opelle Creative Issa Camera bag (borrowed from Kirstyn) / Everlane Day Boot in Burgundy
After wearing these boots for almost a month now I wanted to jot down my thoughts on the Day Boot from Everlane.
The brief
I found there was a gap in my closet for a practical (low heel) pair of boots that weren’t black. These boots need to take me from a daycare drop-off to a meeting and later our to dinner with friends.
Quality over quantity
I only really buy a new pair of boots every 1-2 years as I would much rather invest in quality over quantity. Well made boots can be resoled and last so much longer than a cheap and cheerful pair that will barely last until the end of winter.
Ordering the right size
I originally ordered a size 9 as the website advises to buy true-to-size. I actually had to send these back for the next size up as they were way too snug/narrow and the arch of my foot was barely touching that part of the shoe. The size 9.5 which is equivalent to a EU 40 (which is my usual size) was SO much better and fit perfectly. My advice - be really cautious with the sizing and chat to their customer care for the best advice.
Shipping
So one of the best things is that Everlane now offers free international shipping when you spend $100+. They arrived within a few days and came really well packaged and in a sturdy shoe box to keep them safe and sound during transit.
The wear test
I can honestly say that they should be renamed to the ‘Day to Night’ boot. The leather is insanely soft and the shoe moulds to the shape of your foot. I wear them with a light weight sock and they pair greatly with skinny jeans, wide leg pants & even dresses/skirts. Can’t recommend them enough and can’t wait to see these boots on repeat season after season.
