skirts for summer
I've come to a realisation: denim cut-off shorts are not for me. And these thoughts aren't formed just because I've turned thirty this year. I've been uncomfortable in denim cut-off shorts for years now. Maybe I never found the right pair, and trust me - I looked long and hard. But I never liked the way they fit me or how they cut my body shape in half. Denim shorts just don't suit my body type and that's okay. They look amazing on other women but it's taken some time to realise they are just not for me.
Denim skirts... now that's where it's at. When I was in Melbourne over the Christmas break last year, I went consignment store shopping with my sister. I came across this beauty of a denim skirt by Kloke and it all made sense. It may be ridiculous to call it an epiphany but I don't think I can go back to the dark (short) side now. Yes, this sounds a little silly considering we're talking about an item of clothing, but when it can have such a significant impact on your mood and how good you feel about yourself (in your own skin) - now that's worth writing about.
I've selected a few of my favourite denim skirts below and if you've been feeling the same about denim shorts like me, I seriously suggest trying them out:
Wearing: Lack of Color hat / Frank and Oak blouse (sold out - but similar) / Handsom denim skirt (sold out - but similar) / Proenza Schouler PS11 tiny bag / Steve Madden Irenee heels
