resolutions
I'm going to add a disclaimer to this post: I'm a sucker for new years resolutions. I know you don't have to wait all year 'til Jan 1 to start something new, but theres something about the change that a new year brings, that always gets me excited.
One of my resolutions this year is to dress up more. I've been milking the whole 'normcore'/'athleisure' trend for a little too long. I miss dressing up. Whether that shows up as wearing heels more often, donning some tailored pants or getting myself back into dresses. This is something I posted about on Instagram and a few of you wanted to know more. So here's my action plan:
1. Choose my outfit the night before. Too often I get up in the morning and find something that resembles what I just previously spent the night in (aka pyjamas). Also being a #workingmama means I need to sort out as much possible the night before, so I'm not running around like a headless chicken the next morning.
2. Substitute. This one has been a goodie so far. Substituting a regular go-to item for more dressier items in my closet. Case in point this fuzzy dress coat. Every time I've gone to grab my casual army parka this week, I sub'd in the grey coat instead. Casual sneakers.. nope! Sub in the black heeled boots. This trick has been making a huge difference so far.
3. Pick your battles. There's going to be some days when I just don't feel like dressing up. Ahem.. that time of the month. And that's ok. I'm not going to beat myself up if I just feel like wearing slouchy harems & a cardigan to work.
So that's all I've got. If you have any tips, I'd love to hear them - please share below :)
