how to get away with wearing sneakers to work

As you may have read last week - I've set myself a new years resolution of 'dressing up more'. As I was putting this week's style story together, I tried to think of how I could have fun with that concept. Then it hit.. how to get away with wearing sneakers to work by dressing them up.
Full disclosure: this probably won't fly at corporate/suit & tie style establishments. Unless it's casual Friday 💃. For most fashion companies I've worked for (Aritzia and Kit & Ace), it's totally ok!
- First step is to get yourself some really nice sneakers. No, your muddy runners ain't going to fly here. Axel Arigato ($), Common Projects ($$) & Gucci ($$$) have some great ones. Clean lines & cap soles are the best.
- Pick out your dressiest pair of trousers. Whether they be pleated pants or cropped culottes, the more formal the better.
- Find a statement evening jacket or coat (such as this fab Avelon one), that will help elevate the entire look.
- Pair with a smaller cross body bag, as a larger tote will make the look more casual.
And that's how it's done folks. Your feet can thank me later when they love not wearing heels all week haha.
